Description: The hand forged, clay hardened 1084 carbon steel blade will have excellent edge retention. The resulting hamon (clay temper line) shows the differential heat treatment -- the edge is much harder than the resilient, supportive spine. The blade is distal tapered to bring the weight to the center of the knife for an optimal balance in the hand. The fittings are formed from 1018 mild steel and meet up nicely both to the blade and American walnut handle. Exceptional work throughout.
