Blade: Hollow ground 440C stainless steel Bolster: Engraved integral D Guard Handle: Integral with pre-ban ivory inlays Description: This D-guard fighter is an elegant weapon, perfectly balanced. Ron抯 main focus for the last few years has been on making integral knives. This technique shows tremendous control -- the steel parts, from blade to guard, to handle are all made from one solid piece of stainless steel. The result is an exceptional knife. The long (15 3/4 inch) blade is meticulously ground, upswept tip. The spine is fileworked into a "saw tooth" shape. Both left and right sides of the blade have double fullers that are finished with engraved accents. The edge of the blade is meticulously reground in a stylistic impression of the traditional Japanese hamon or temper line. The integral design results in exceptional heft and a great feel in the hand. The blade has been meticulously hand satin finished. The integral handle has been sculpted and meticulously inlaid with pre-ban ivory. The steel throughout the handle has been lavishly engraved by Jere Davidson. The engraving throughout is extremely detailed and brings tremendous interest to the knife. The guard is brought to two nearly sharp edges with the base of the D-guard brought to a saw tooth edge, reflecting the blade's spine. Exceptional fit and finish throughout on a very captivating, elegant fighter.
